About

The George Mason Equestrian Club, since its inception in 2003, offers students of all skill levels the opportunity to ride and compete. Students take weekly lessons that focus on riding and horsemanship. Those who wish to compete may participate in horse shows held by the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) and the Virginia Horse Show Association (VHSA).

The team is housed at Sunny’s Corner Farm in Middleburg, VA.

In the 2010 season, the team placed 6th at the end of their season, finishing in the top three at many regional horse shows. We have won multiple blue ribbons in all our divisions, and three of our riders have pointed out of their divisions in this year alone. We have had riders qualify for both Regionals and Zones and Nationals this year!

We are very proud of our riders, especially in light of the fact that we are one of the smaller teams competing against some of the most well known colleges and universities in the IHSA, including Goucher College, University of Maryland, and Mary Washington. The GMU Equestrian Club is a team that shares a common love for horses and equestrian sports. With hard work and dedication, we have been able to establish ourselves as one of the top teams in our region, and we look forward to another successful season in the year to come.

If you would like to become a member of the George Mason Equestrian Club, please do not hesitate to contact us; we are always looking for new riders! You can find us on Facebook, or you can email our president at mattstough@gmail.com We look forward to hearing from you!
